Dr. Muhammad Shamsul Arefin is an interventional Pain medicine specialist. He completed his graduation in 2003 from Chittagong Medical College and Diploma in Anaesthesiology in 2009 from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Then he started his journey as a resident and completed 5-year MD degree in Anaesthesiology in 2017 from BSMMU. During his academic course he had special interest in interventional pain medicine and attended different National and international training courses regarding interventional pain-relieving procedures. He completed his thesis work on pain medicine topics under his mentor Prof. AKM Akhtaruzzaman, one of the pain medicines pioneers in Bangladesh. Besides, he had opportunities to work with some of the premium medical facilities and achieved fellowship in pain medicine from India. He is also a member of International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). He is continuing his service as a consultant in NeuroAnaesthesia and Pain medicine in National Institute of NeuroSciences & Hospital (NINS), Dhaka. He has also achieved “Young Pain Physician Award 2020” in 1^st International e-Conference on Pain 2020, organized by Bangladesh Society of Anaesthesiologist (BSA).

He has extensive experience with all Interventional Pain Management techniques and is well-trained in diagnostic and therapeutic selective nerve root, facet joints injections, epidural injections, intradiscal procedures- Ozone therapy & intra articular injections- PRP therapy.

He is enriched with more than 30national & international research publications in the field of Pain Medicine and Anaesthesiology.

He is the Founder & Director of Ava pain & Intervention Center (APIC) which is designed to be an effective pain relief destination to patients suffering from acute and chronic pain.

 Ava pain & Intervention Center (APIC) is a modern, multidisciplinary, well equipped advanced Pain center. Our dedicated team consists of certified interventional pain physician/doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses. In this center we already have served more than thousand patients by this time in Bangladesh.
